Air curtains are used to separate one environment from another where doors are left open or when automatic doors frequently open due to high volumes of traffic. Air curtains create a curtain of high velocity air which is blown over the door opening preventing dust and insects from entering and retaining the heated or cooled air in the shop.

Heat pump air curtains are extremely energy efficient compared to electrically operated air curtains. Whereas the capital cost is high when compared to electrically operated air curtains, the pay-back period for heat pump air curtains is as low as 3 years when used for 10 hours a day 7 days a week
